Chrissy Metz Talks Faith, Best-Selling Children's Book & New Album
Chrissy Metz is living the best of both worlds.
Just over a week after revealing she had relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, the This Is Us alum revealed what inspired her to split her time between Los Angeles and the Southern city.
“The reason why I'm there so often is that everything is very close in proximity,” Chrissy explained to E! News in an exclusive interview. “You can go to three different shows, to great restaurants, like in one night. It doesn't take two hours to get anywhere. It's really great.”
And for the Florida native, it’s hard to beat the speed of life farther south.
“It's just like quality of life as well, you know?” Chrissy added. “The Southern hospitality. I grew up in the South. It's very familiar to me. There's a lot of great, great aspects of Nashville.” (For more with Chrissy, tune into E! News tonight, April 14 at 11 p.m.)
There’s also another reason the 44-year-old has opted to spend more time away from Hollywood.
“There's also not work happening in Los Angeles,” Chrissy explained. “There's just not much shooting here, unfortunately. And because I've been focusing on music, my family's close in Florida. Yeah, it's just where I split my time.”
Plus, in addition to her music, the Breakthrough actress recently published a children’s book titled When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings, a story she was inspired to write from her life experiences.

“I have a big family,” Chrissy—who previously published When I Talk To God, I Talk About You—explained. “I know when I was a kid, I didn't feel seen or heard. And I see it in these little kids faces and like, it's not about the toy, it’s not about playing outside—kids want to feel seen and heard because I don't think it's necessarily fostered or cultivated. So we had to talk about feelings because even as adults, we don't know how to.”
And becoming an author has been a joyous experience—one she hopes to continue.
“I love picture books,” she gushed. “I love illustrators. I was going to go to school for art. So, I love the process. So yeah, fingers crossed.”
But while Chrissy has been focused on her books and her music, she isn’t keeping tabs on a possible This Is Us movie. In fact, recently revealed whether the rumored spinoff is actually in the works.
“No, but I'd like to know about it,” she said of movie rumors, joking, “Hopefully I'm in it. I would love that only because I want to know what's going on. What are these characters up to? I've not heard those whispers. But perhaps we could plant the seed.”
Until then, Chrissy isn’t the only Hollywood star enjoying time away from La La Land. For more stars who have moved away from Los Angeles, keep reading.
